Course Corrections: Colorado Summit on Behavioral Health & Criminal Justice

August 31, 2016 @ 8:00 am - 7:00 pm

Mental Health Colorado is co-sponsoring Course Corrections: Colorado Summit on Behavioral Health and Criminal Justice in partnership with the sponsor, the Equitas Foundation.

Course Corrections: Colorado Summit on Behavioral Health and Criminal Justice will build on the ongoing work of the Colorado Commission on Criminal and Juvenile Justice and its subcommittees, of the state legislature’s Mental Illness in the Criminal Justice System Task Force, and of the newly created Mental Health Hold Task Force within the Colorado Department of Human Services that resulted from Governor Hickenlooper’s recent veto of Senate Bill 16-169.

Judge Steven Leifman, Associate Administrative Judge of the Miami-Dade County Court’s Criminal Division, will be the keynote speaker at the event. Judge Leifman, who chairs the Florida Supreme Court’s Task Force on Substance Abuse and Mental Health Issues in the Court and the Mental Health Committee for the Eleventh Judicial Circuit of Florida, is one of the nation’s leaders in behavioral health and criminal justice reform.

This one-day event will focus collective problem-solving energy on managing behavioral health challenges and recommending state and local course corrections for reducing the misuse of the criminal justice system and cultivating the health and prosperity of our communities.
