Gwendolyn West joined Mental Health Colorado in 2020, continuing her work with The Equitas Project, the newest initiative led by Mental Health Colorado.

Gwendolyn brings over a decade of experience in marketing, communications, development, and event planning in both non-profit and for-profit sectors, to her role at Mental Health Colorado as Equitas Project Manager. A strong public health leader with a track record of aligning strategy and communications on behalf of philanthropic and policy-oriented organizations, Gwendolyn directs Equitas’ major national projects including partner relations, timelines, budgets, deliverables, and more. She has been serving the Equitas Project mission since 2016, having led the organization’s work prior to joining Mental Health Colorado.

Gwendolyn brings a public health lens to the work of disentangling mental health and criminal justice, having dedicated years to expanding the influence of public health approaches in Colorado since 2014. Gwendolyn has previously served the Colorado Public Health Association (CPHA) in several capacities, including the Professional Development (conference planning), Membership, Communications, and Health Equity subcommittees. Gwendolyn also served on the CPHA Board of Directors, as Communications Director, from 2016-2017. Ms. West was honored with the organization’s Emerging Leader in Public Health award in 2017. Gwendolyn earned her B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley.

Gwendolyn lives in Denver, where she enjoys trying new restaurants. Most weekends, you’ll find her camping, climbing, or snowboarding in the Rocky Mountains.
