Rachel Rome joined Mental Health Colorado in 2018.

A Kentucky native, Rachel graduated from Western Kentucky University with Magna Cum Laude honors and the English Department’s Best Professional Writer Award. After college she traveled abroad in Costa Rica to study environmental conservation and eco-tourism. She went on to work for the Kentucky Department of Agriculture before serving as a writer at the Legislative Research Commission for nearly four years.

As a member of the team at Mental Health Colorado, Rachel hopes to increase awareness of mental health and substance use disorders and improve early intervention and treatment rates. She has seen firsthand the toll that a substance use disorder can take on an individual and their family. She is especially passionate about removing the shame and stigmas surrounding anxiety disorders.

In her free time, Rachel enjoys exploring the beautiful Colorado mountains with her husband and her Australian Shepherd. She also enjoys spending quality time at home alongside her sweet and sometimes salty cats. An avid reader, she hopes to get involved with her local library and children’s writing programs.
