CHARG Resource Center

Mental Health Colorado is pleased to honor the CHARG Resource Center as Organization of the Year. For more than 25 years, CHARG has delivered an innovative array of professional and peer-led services to adults with major mental illnesses.

CHARG was founded in 1989 as a joint venture between HEART of Boardwalk and the Capitol Hill Action & Recreation Group. Each year, more than 400 Coloradans benefit from CHARG’s Heartland Clinic, David Quarton Drop-In Center, and Program to Assist in the Transition from Homelessness (PATH).

Executive Director David Burgess describes CHARG’s twin boards – one consisting of consumers; the other, providers and community members – as a “truly equal partnership.” The words on one of its walls capture the spirit of the CHARG Resource Center: “We need to have people in our lives, people who mean something to us, knowing that being with them is coming home.”
