Hannah Ahders is an undergraduate student at the University of California, Santa Cruz. She is part of the Community Studies degree program, a pioneer in addressing principles of social justice, specifically inequities arising from race, class and gender dynamics in society at large, and in critically assessing strategies for achieving social change.

As a Community Studies student, Hannah focuses on mental health care inequalities. After personally struggling with access to health care services, Hannah has dedicated her time and energy to serving those who share similar experiences. Hannah recently interned at Special Olympics, Healthy Athletes Division, bringing health care screenings and onsite health service to regional competitions. She received a Kinesiology AS degree with high honors from Santa Monica College and she is on the Dean’s Honors list at UCSC.

Hannah’s academic interests include the effects of capitalism and neoliberalism on mental health, mental health care, and mental health policy. In her spare time, Hannah plans to explore the natural beauty of Colorado.
